Website for Lev og Lad Leve

I made this website for the non-profit organisation ‘Lev og Lad Leve’ a few months before they had planned a nationwide demonstration with the mission of stopping hate crime against LGBTQ+ people. In the time leading up to the demonstration ‘Lev og Lad Leve’ had spent a year creating a book which contains 1000 examples of LGBTQ+ people’s experience with hate and violence against them based on their sexuality, gender or identity. The website I designed worked as a visual online representation of this book.

‘Lev og Lad Leve’ started out when activists gathered across the country for the “Dresses Against Hate Crimes” campaign, which has since become a national movement against hate crimes. The initiative ‘Lev og Lad Leve’ was created by Elijah Kashmir Ali and Mizz Privileze.

Afterthought

To be honest this project was one of my hardest due to the fact that it was very hard to sit and read the quotes from so many LGBTQ+ people and the unfairness that they have been put through. But it was also one of my projects which I am most proud of, because I felt like my work made a difference. During the demonstration the website was distributed alongside the book to the people who participated and also to politicians at Christiansborg (The Danish Parlament) and this really made me feel like I was a part of something great and something that had an effect on many people. And on the 21st of December 2021, the government made changes to the legislation in which the protection of LGBTQ+ people is strengthened.
