At ITU we had the course User Experience and User Interface where we did a redesign of the app TooGoodToGo. The design problem we focused on was that TooGoodToGo can be a complicated app to use for users who are not familiar with the interface design.
In this project we went through the design thinking process. We used different methods such as affinity mapping, personas, user journeys, wireframes, expert evaluation and think-aloud testing.
wireframes
Before we started creating the user interface of the app, we wanted to make wireframes as a sketch of how the app could look. Wireframes are used to make an overall skeleton of an app or web page layout. The wireframe is about the interaction design and information architecture of a particular service or product.
User journeys
The idea of user journeys is to map out all the possible ways the user interacts; with a service or product. By creating user journeys, we need to understand the great and small interactions of how the user behaves. A user journey consists of frontstage and backstage processes looking at everything from what is happening right now to all the smaller parts occurring in the background.
figma prototyping
We made a high fidelity prototype using the software Figma. In general we wanted the user to have a smooth experience when using the prototype. By conducting think-aloud tests we were able to locate usability issues in the TooGoodToGo app. Some of the most prominent issues the participants had with the app was that the color coding was unclear and the filter function and location was not efficient.
